The Aviator:
The perfect blend of form and function, the Ray-Ban Aviator is forever connected with Western Culture and the American dream, With it’s famous metal pilot shape, the frame took it aviation connection to the max, making a prominent appearance in the film Top Gun from 1986. The Aviator was born in 1937, designed to protect fighter pilots eyes from the suns straight rays and glare when flying at high altitudes.
Ray-Ban have recently launched their Aviator Reverse range which features the brands first-ever inverted lens. Four timeless Ray-Ban styles are re-envisioned with a twist that nobody expected – shifting from the conventional lens shape for sharp visuals with a disruptive aesthetic. Reverse lenses follow the natural curve of the cheekbone for a universally-flattering fit.
The Wayfarer:
Born in 1952, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer is universally recognised for its unmistakable square shape and pantoscopic angle, the peculiar tilt of the frame that makes the style famous. Interestingly, the Wayfarer’s style inspiration came from the back of John F Kennedy’s Cadillac! Wayfarer means the explorer, the ones who travel.
The Round:
The Ray-Ban Round takes its inspiration from the rounded 1960s shapes, cleverly reinterpreted with contemporary twists. The Round style features a sleek metal profile and has a real rock and roll personality and aesthetic. The Ray-Ban Round is a style that was adopted by many music stars in the 1990s.
The Clubmaster:
Launched in 1986, the Ray-Ban Clubmaster features a classic brow line frame and walks the line between old skool 1950s style and 1980s excesses, the style takes its name from the Master of the Club. Worn by visionaries, hipsters and dandies, the Ray-Ban Clubmaster is famous for its classic counter-culture look.
